I found photography relatively late in life. I got completely hooked the moment I bought my first DSLR camera in 2008 and realised there was so much more to this game than pointing and shooting and found the biggest limitation to be my imagination – not just because my camera wasn’t big or expensive enough!
After a moment of madness and thinking if I didn’t do it now then I never would, I took the plunge and turned professional in 2011 and it’s been a rollercoaster ever since!
But I can honestly sit here now and tell you I love what I do and I love capturing moments for people that appreciate what I do for them and how much I put into every shoot.
I cut my teeth with event photography – from football and equestrian events to black tie balls – and after shooting a wedding for a friend this quickly grew into developing portrait photography skills and initially taking shots of my sister’s children.
Weddings and Portraits are a large part of my business and I love the fact that photography has changed so much since the advent of digital and people are more willing to stray from the traditional ‘posed’ format of photography and you’re able to tell a story with the images. Although my style encompasses the traditional, classic photography that people still love, I add the contemporary element with natural unposed shots that bring out an individual’s character or set a mood within a photo. As much as I enjoy Wedding and Portrait photography, I love to get commissions – commercial or otherwise – that are a bit different to the norm, shoots that stretch the imagination creatively and technically. At the end of the day it’s all about you, and the reactions and feelings that you get from seeing your images.
